The Huizinga Institute

The role of the national research schools, like the Huizinga Institute, is to provide a country-wide educational programme for PhD candidates and RMA students in a specific sub-area, in this case in cultural history. Furthermore, the institute serves as a national forum for the discipline.

Cultural history through the ages

One of the ways in which the occasion is celebrated is through a video-conversation on the field of Cultural History between members of the Huizinga community and Professor Lyndal Roper (Oxford 木瓜福利影视), led by UU-colleagues Dr Rachell Gillett (Cultural History) and Dr Surekha Davies (Art History). Together they travel through time and discuss the history of Cultural History, new directions in the field, and its continuing relevance for both the present and the future. You can watch the video .

Alumni Guide

The institute also presents , in which all members of the past two-and-a-half decades are presented together for the first time. It is also filled with columns and interviews featuring members from across the community. Documenting the intergenerational richness of the community the Guide may help, we hope, to strengthen future interaction and collaboration.
