Tuesday the 8th of February twenty interested teachers of the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 were introduced in a playful way with the philosophy of the KAOS PILOT and experimented with ways to increase student involvement and student responsibility. By practicing with LEGO. Where could that be better done than at the experimental room of the Teaching & Learning Lab.

The KAOSPILOT from Denmark is a school with a rich tradition in designing education in co-creation with students. Education that develops a 21th century and open mindset in complex situations, in order to obtain sight on the needs and the possibilities that occur. A mindset that is aiming for taking responsibility for our own development and that of your environment. And also for your own education.

Under guidance of Joska Spruyt, facilitator KAOSPILOT Netherlands, the participants from all corners of the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 went 鈥榣earning by doing鈥. Joska: 鈥淜AOS is all about having fun while learning. First make student curious, then give them information.鈥 In two teams of 10 persons the participants fulfilled a LEGO mission. The mission was successful when all the team members had completed their own assignment and with that, the team mission was completed.

The workshop got a very positive evaluation from the participants, who even gave it an average grade of 8,3! Reactions of the participants during and after the workshop:

  • 鈥淲orking together, by retrieving each other鈥檚 motivation and strength.鈥
  • 鈥淟earning by creating chaos.鈥
  • 鈥淎fter 22 years of teaching I worry about becoming old fashioned in my lessons. That's why I'm here, to find out about new ways of teaching.鈥
  • "Very good trainer, practices what he preaches, convincing and inspiring".
  • "What I take back to my own education: inspiration on throwing students into the deep. To not be afraid to give difficult assignments. This makes them curious! "
