Presentation Fran莽ois Kirsten and Eelke Sikkema on modernization of Dutch Code of Criminal Procedure
On the 14th of September 2017 Prof Fran莽ois Kristen and Dr Eelke Sikkema (Utrecht Centre for Accountability and Liability Law) gave a presentation at the conference on the modernization of the Dutch Code of Criminal Procedure.
They presented the results of their research which they executed in instruction of the WODC. The procedure of referencing for preliminary rulings to the Dutch Supreme Court (Hoge Raad) in civil cases was being evaluated as was the desirability of implementing such a procedure in criminal law.
At the conference it became clear that the propositions where mostly adopted by the Ministry of Security and Justice. In the legislative operation for the modernization of the Dutch Code of Criminal Procedure is given the possibility of referencing for preliminary rulings to the Dutch Supreme Court (Hoge Raad).
