Debby Gawlitta and Paul Coffer

After more than 15 years, prof. dr. Paul Coffer has stepped down as director of the Regenerative Medicine PhD program. Surrounded by colleagues and PhD students, he handed over the role to dr. Debby Gawlitta.

During a celebratory borrel to reminisce and thank Paul, he was praised by his colleagues as well as the PhD students for his hard work over the years, and specifically his attention to the well-being of the students.

As the new director of the PhD programme, Debby Gawlitta wants to set a special focus on the connection between the PhD students and their PIs. Paul: "Passing on this role to Debby means I know I am passing on the baton to very safe hands."

We thank Paul for his hard work and valuable contributions to our PhD program. As of October 2024, Paul has become the new scientific director of the university-wide strategic theme Life Sciences, allowing him to maintain his close relations to RMU.
