Open Science: Track "Recognition and rewards" presents infographic

The way in which we reward and recognize academics is about to change drastically, making room for everyone’s talent. In the future, researchers will no longer be assessed solely in terms of scientific output. Rather, assessment and career paths will be based on (team) outcomes that include performance in the fields of education, leadership, impact and professional performance.

The ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ Utrecht working group on Recognition and rewards, which is part of the university wide Open Science Programme, designs, supports, evaluates, connects and shares experiences with UU faculties and departments. This takes shape through mapping out good practices, following and learning from pilots, work sessions with employees from all UU ranks and feeding back new insights so that the Utrecht university community can learn from each other.

With this infographic, the working group intends to fuel the discussion on what academics and support staff regard as the prime drivers of their work. What do they consider to be valuable outcomes and how can they be integrated in a modern system of recognition and rewards? The answers to these questions are likely to vary between disciplines, and new insights are likely to change views on this topic, which is why this is living document is marked ‘sketch’.
