For the academic year 2025-2026, funding is available for UU researchers for a few projects that relate to the themes and topics of the Special Interest Group (SIG) AI, Ethics and Law.

Open call for proposals

The group focuses on three main themes: AI for ethics and law, responsible autonomous systems, and the legal and ethical aspects of AI. The call is also open to consider other relevant themes.

All proposals should involve at least two researchers from at least two different departments or research centres of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. The main applicants should have a position at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 for the duration of the project.

Objectives of the call

The call aims to support collaborative and interdisciplinary research in the field of AI, ethics and law. Grants are available for:

  • Outreach activities to advertise research to societal partners and/or the broader public.
  • Organising a workshop or symposium by applicants from different disciplines.
  • Various forms of support, such as:
    • Assistance in setting up events, like an online workshop or seminar (series)
    • Research assistance, such as organising datasets, or programming
    • Developing an AI related course or summer or winter school
