In the northwest of Utrecht Science Park / De Uithof, the existing thermal storage system is greatly expanded and adapted. On Wednesday, May 27th, the thermal storage system was officially opened by prof. Anton Pijpers, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. In addition, he showed a that explains in a simple manner the operation of the thermal storage system in the area. Anton Pijpers: "With the expansion and adaptation of the system in this area, 13% reduction in fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emissions is achieved. This fits very well with the ambition of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, which aims to achieve an energy consumption that exists for 50% of sustainable energy in 2020."

To achieve this goal, there is a sub-energy vision developed for each region in De Uithof. In the Northwest Cluster in Utrecht Science Park, a number of (new) construction projects will be realized. Examples are the Collective Environmental Laboratory and the new education center, the Victor J. Koningsberger building. In addition, the preparation for new offices Geosciences has already started and in 2016 the Minnaert building will be renovated. By extending the existing system in this area, all these buildings can be connected to the thermal storage system. This greatly contributes to the transition to use of sustainable energy and achieves 3% energy efficiency for the UU annually. This equates to an annual saving of 770,000 m3 of natural gas and a reduction of 1,020 tons per year in CO2 emissions. Read more about the on the website (in Dutch).

Sustainability, one of the four strategic themes of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, plays an important role in research, education, enhancement and management. The university takes its social responsibility to make an active contribution to a sustainable society. The Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 sees it as part of its social responsibility to make students and staff aware of the challenges of sustainability, and to contribute, through research on solutions to these challenges.
