NWA-ORC funding for new online center for development of nanomedicines

Improved collaboration and knowledge sharing

A consortium coordinated by Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 Professor Enrico Mastrobattista has received 6,7 million euro in funding for the project NanoMedNL. The funding is part of the programme of the Dutch Research Agenda (NWA).

Prof. Enrico Mastrobattista

NanoMedNL wants to accelerate the development of life-saving medicines based on nanotechnology. For now, this is still difficult, because it is not exactly known how these medicines work and react in the body. The medicines are also not always described or studied in the same way, and scientists, patients, citizens and industry do not yet exchange enough knowledge.

NanoMedNL will create a Dutch online center where all knowledge comes together. This will allow researchers, patients, doctors, companies and regulators to efficiently work together to create nanomedicines that can improve the quality of life of many patients much faster.

A drastically different approach

Enrico Mastrobattista: 鈥淣anoMedNL will follow a drastically different approach in the development of nanomedicines, where input from the various stakeholders (patients, the general public, policy makers, clinicians and scientist) will be incorporated from the very onset. This co-creation approach will assure that future nanomedicines will be tailored to the needs of patients and that all stakeholders will be fully informed with the possibilities and limitations of nanomedicines.鈥

NWA-ORC

In projects funded through the Research along Routes by Consortia (ORC) programme of the Dutch Research Agenda (NWA), researchers work together with knowledge partners and civil society organizations. This collaborative approach helps develop and apply knowledge to achieve both scientific and societal impact.
