New Master's Programme Economics and Data Analysis now online
The new Master's programme in Economics and Data Analysis from the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 School of Economics (U.S.E.) is now online on Utrecht 木瓜福利影视's Master's website. The programme will start in September 2026.
This new Master's programme responds to a growing need in both academia and the labour market for a demand in economists who can combine economic theory with modern data analysis. Students will learn how to analyse complex social issues such as climate change, technological transformation and inequality and translate them into clear reasoned economic advice.
The Master's programme is coordinated by Joyce Delnoij and Sabrina Genz.
Relevant to major societal challenges
Economics and Data Analysis offers a unique combination of solid economic theory and applied data analysis,
says Sabrina Genz. We emphasise applications relevant to the major societal challenges of our time.
Our students learn to turn complex data into economic insights and practically applicable policies,
adds Joyce Delnoij. They are prepared for roles in which they build bridges between data scientists and managers, consultants and policymakers.
Signals from students and employers
The programme was developed in response to signals from students and employers. They see opportunities for a Master's that focuses specifically on combining economic expertise with skills in programming and data analysis. This combination opens doors to a wide range of positions in both the private and public sectors, where demand for analytically strong economists is growing rapidly.
Economics and Data Analysis also dovetails perfectly with the existing dedicated , which allows students to work towards this specialisation in a targeted way already during their Bachelor's degree. With this new Master's programme, U.S.E. strengthens its offering in the field of economics and offers students a substantively innovative and future-oriented programme.
