鈥淔unding helped us explore the interaction between crowd technologies and cultural heritage鈥
In 2018 eight request were granted, and in 2017 six innovative research proposals have been awarded financial support. One of them was 鈥楥ollaborative crowdsourcing tools for sustaining intangible urban heritage, by dr. Ioanna Lykourentzou. Lykourentzou explains: 鈥淭he funding from the university for this interdisciplinary project has helped us explore how technology can be coupled with large-scale citizen participation to digitize and preserve intangible cultural heritage, which is an integral part of the heritage of future generations, and which otherwise would be lost. It has also helped us create a viable prototype to achieve the above. This prototype can help municipalities across the Netherlands to involve their residents in gathering their city鈥檚 urban cultural heritage, and in the long run to also promote their local tourist industry.鈥
