Master student Pharmacy wins Dutch Championship Consultancy

Pharmacy student Hanne Borgers has won the NK-Consultation this year. This makes her the best pharmacist-student in helping patients. As the winner of the competition, Borgers represented the Netherlands at the international student congress in Kigali, Rwanda, where she again won prizes.
Face to face with actors
The NK-Consultation is a competition for Dutch Pharmacy students. Participants come face to face with actors with a medical complaint and have to find out what the problem is, help the patient and give good advice. The jury consists of lecturers from the study programmes and ultimately decides who had the best conversation.
Public interest
The ability of a future pharmacist to conduct a good consultation is of great social importance. After all, the pharmacist is increasingly seen as a care provider. However, it is still not always sufficiently evident in the training courses. With the Dutch Championship, the initiator, the Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Student Association (KNPSV), wants to draw extra attention to it.
Fourth in the world
After winning the title, the Dutch champion travelled to Kigali in Rwanda. There she competed against pharmacy students from all over the world during the annual congress of the International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation. "An additional challenge is that patient contact is very different worldwide," says Borgers. "It was very interesting to talk about this." Borgers ended up in fourth place and in passing won a competition in the preparation of medicines.
