Drs. Margot van der Starre has been reappointed by the Supervisory Board as Vice President of the Executive Board of Utrecht ľ�ϸ���Ӱ�� effective March 15, 2025. Van der Starre has served on the board since March 15, 2021. The reappointment is for a period of more than three years, until she reaches the state pension age at the end of July 2028. In addition to Van der Starre, the Executive Board consists of President Anton Pijpers and Rector Magnificus Henk Kummeling.

“We have great appreciation for Margot as Vice President of the Executive Board”, says Karin Laglas, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Utrecht ľ�ϸ���Ӱ��. “Together with the departments involved, she is achieving beautiful results in areas such as sustainability, real estate, and financial management control. Margot is decisive and is able to make difficult decisions, with attention and interest for the people she works with. Students and employees across the university also have her attention. We experience broad support for her reappointment, for example in the ľ�ϸ���Ӱ�� Council. We are therefore pleased that she is entering a second term and confidently look forward to the continued collaboration.”

“A joy to work here”

Van der Starre is delighted with the reappointment and the trust placed in her, and thoroughly enjoys working at Utrecht ľ�ϸ���Ӱ��: “I am a curious person and deeply interested in everything that our staff and students are researching, organizing and teaching. That makes it a joy to work here.”

In recent years, the board has taken important steps in prioritizing the large number of projects and initiatives, Van der Starre believes. That requires clear choices. “I am very satisfied with the focus we have been able to bring. That clarity is also appreciated by the fantastic teams that I work with.”

Working together to confront challenges

“One of the biggest challenges in this role is managing the university’s real estate”, according to Van der Starre. “We have certainly made progress on that in recent years, and we now have a clear picture of what we need to do. But in the coming years, the board will have to steer the organization through difficult times. That will make tasks that were already complex, like real estate, even harder. My goal is to do this as smart and as well as possible, together. Only by working together we can confront these challenges.”
