Lieke Stelling shortlisted for Shakespeare's Globe Book Award 2020
Every two years, Shakespeare's Globe awards a prize to the first book of an emerging scholar. Last week it was announced that Religious Conversion in Early Modern English Drama, Dr Lieke Stelling's (Languages, Literature and Communication) first book, has been nominated.
Conversion in the Renaissance
According to the jury, the nominated books contribute to the understanding of and appreciation for the theatre of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. The jury believes that Stelling's book shows how theatre dealt with conversion from the late Middle Ages onwards. Because it was such an important subject, conversion had a great influence on the imagination in the Renaissance.
