Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ has developed an educational programme for public professionals who work on sustainability issues in the Utrecht region and want to strengthen their leadership in this area. Topics include cooperation with public and private actors, dealing with resistance and conflict, the relationship with politics and democracy, and the role of citizens. The course consists of seven days in the period September 2025 to March 2026. During the seven days, participants will work concretely with their own cases, fed by theoretical insights and the experiential knowledge of other participants.

Sustainability is an important and topical issue for public organizations. Many professionals in government and societal organisations are working to make our society sustainable for current and future generations. This is a complex task: it affects many parties, requires good cooperation (within and outside one's own organisation), demands new ways of thinking and acting, and touches on many other (political) themes and democratic developments.

Working on sustainability tasks requires clear leadership from public organisations and therefore public professionals. In the Leiderschap en duurzaamheid (‘Leadership and Sustainability’) programme you will work together with other public professionals, teachers and researchers to strengthen your leadership in sustainability issues. Because this programme is specifically designed for professionals from the Utrecht region, you will not only work together on regional issues, but you will also actively expand your network.
