A new research project has started with a strong focus on experiments. There are many negative stereotypes about civil servants. They are called lazy or incompetent. But are such stereotypes universal? Are all stereotypes negative? Can stereotyping become a self-fulfilling prophecy? This new NWO VIDI project investigates stereotypes of civil servants in three countries. It also studies how civil servants (in)effectively cope with stereotyping. Involved faculty include Lars Tummers, Robin Bouwman, Noor de Boer, Stephan Grimmelikhuijsen.
