Krijn de Jong receives honorary professorship in China
Krijn de Jong has been conferred with an honorary professorship at East China 木瓜福利影视 of Science and Technology (ECUST) in Shanghai. De Jong is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis at the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. De Jong joins fellow Dutchmen Roeland Nolte and Nobel Prize winner Ben Feringa as honorary professor at ECUST.

The Vice President of ECUST, Changsheng Liu, awarded De Jong the honorary professorship on 13 November 2018, prior to a lecture that he delivered. 鈥淥ur research is very popular in China, because it focuses on the conversion of natural resources into fuel and chemicals鈥, De Jong explains. 鈥淐hina doesn鈥檛 have a lot of oil reserves, so the country uses other resources, such as coal and biomass, for the production of fuel and chemicals. Based on this joined interest, we started collaborating and this professorship is an initiative by ECUST to further shape the relationship.鈥

De Jong is honoured by the award: 鈥淚t is a great acknowledgement of the research we do in Utrecht鈥, he says. 鈥淓CUST is a prominent university in China and world leading when it comes to chemical engineering.鈥
About Krijn de Jong
De Jong studied Chemistry and Technical Chemistry at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 and the 木瓜福利影视 of Twente, and earned his PhD degree in catalysis. He subsequently worked as a researcher at Shell Research for 15 years. He has served as Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 since 1997. He has also been the Scientific Director of the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials and a member of BP's Technology Advisory Council. De Jong has received numerous awards for his work.
