IOS_Visiting Fellow Michael Young

visited Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 in from 28 February to 5 March 2016. As an internationally recognized expert in the field of automated text analysis for psychological assessment, cognitive mapping and threat analysis and developer of Profiler Plus, his visit was aimed at stimulating a conversation amongst IOS scholars working across the disciplines who share an interest in innovative methods of text-analysis.

Dr. Young held one lecture on automated text analysis and another on cognitive mapping. Both were attended by IOS scholars from a range disciplines like history, psychology, law, linguistics, public administration and social sciences. The lectures and discussion by Prof. J. Van Einatten fostered a lively discussions amongst the attending scholars and several follow-up appointments were made to explore opportunities to collaborate further. Dr. Young also participated in an expert meeting on innovations in automated text analysis with scholars from IoS, VU Amsterdam and UVA and collaborated with colleagues from the psychology department on a special-purpose coding scheme. Finally, during the week, a first start was made to develop an automated coding scheme for cognitive mapping with the organizing team from USG.
