Impressive overview of scientific results at final InGOS conference

InGOS (Integrated non-CO2 Greenhouse gas Observing System) is an EU FP7 project, targeted at improving and extending the European observation capacity for non-CO2 greenhouse gases. The concluding InGOS conference, hosted by the IMAU at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, was a successful and inspiring event with more than 100 scientists from 20 countries.

The conference marked the ending of the InGOS project, coordinated by ECN, after four years of intense research on non-CO2 greenhouse gases such as CH4, N2O, SF6, H2 and halocarbons. The participants presented an impressive overview of their scientific results, which has clearly deepened and expanded our knowledge. For instance, multiple previously unknown greenhouse gases were identified; the effects of the Kyoto and Montreal Protocols on emissions were monitored in detail, and new instruments and methods were developed to measure and distinguish between greenhouse gas sources and their origins.

Within InGOS, historical data have been mined and a state-of-the-art European measurement network for all non-CO2 greenhouse gases has been realized, including a standardized quality control to ensure comparability of measurements. Independent and robust scientific observations from such networks are invaluable to formulate new agreements on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to support the government麓s climate policy. The meeting generated quite some media attention on national radio and was well covered in the newspapers. A UU press release on the conference can be found here.
