We're happy that Henk Kummeling will continue, says Joanne Kellermann, President of the Supervisory Board. He made a big contribution to the development of education and research at UU in the past years. He also played an important role in maintaining course during the corona pandemic with his calm, humorous but also committed style of governance. We now need those same qualities again in the crisis around the war in Ukraine, and the horrors and challenges that comes with it. Henk Kummeling has a broad vision on the future and the role the university must play in society. That makes him a perfect ambassador for multidisciplinary research and academic schooling in education outside the university. Internally, he knows how to get people to commit.

Kummeling himself is happy with his reappointment and the trust he receives. Being Rector Magnificus of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 is a big honour and a beautiful job. Until recently, I often had to make contact from my study at home, but that has now fortunately changed again. We have to learn from the pandemic. We're facing enormous challenges, in our world and also within UU itself, not in the least because the intake of students is very large. The university has an important task in providing new perspectives. I would like to continue to work on that with all colleagues and students as Rector Magnificus.

Kummeling (1961) studied Law in Nijmegen, where he also obtained his PhD in 1988. In 1994, he was appointed Professor of Governance at Tilburg 木瓜福利影视. He has been a professor in Utrecht since 1995, where he was Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance from 1 September 2008 to 1 September 2014. In 2015, the Executive Board appointed him as Distinguished Professor for his big academic service record. Kummeling was president of the committee that introduced the new 'Utrecht educational model' between 2002 and 2006. He has taught in China, Indonesia, the UK, the USA, Surinam and South Africa.
