Geert Houben (Board Member, Future Food Utrecht) contributes to international FAO/WHO expert consultation on food allergens and gluten

Geert Houben, Board Member of Future Food Utrecht and internationally recognized expert in food allergen risk assessment, will again participate in a high-level expert meeting organized by FAO and WHO this November. This 7th Expert Consultation is part of the ongoing efforts of the United Nations’ Codex Alimentarius to globally harmonize the risk assessment and management of food allergens.

Following his active contribution to the previous 6 Expert Consultations that took place between 2020 and June 2025, Houben will now help develop scientific advice on reference doses for cereals containing gluten or gluten itself. An important step toward better risk-based assessment and communication for individuals with coeliac disease and other gluten-related disorders.
