Eleven cancer-control research programmes will receive 5 million euros from Technology Foundation STW and the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF Kankerbestrijding). Researchers from Utrecht are involved in five projects and three of those are led from Utrecht. The research programmes are intended to lead to better cancer treatments or better cancer-prevention methods.

What makes this programme unique is that the approved projects will be carried out by teams in which technical and medical researchers will work together with corporations. This combination is intended to result in technological innovations that directly benefit cancer patients.
