On February 18, members of the Utrecht Young Academy joined the first General Assembly of the year. During the meeting, we evaluated this year’s the selection procedure of new members and updated each other on current projects such as the .

After evaluating this year’s selection procedure, the new selection committee for the upcoming year was elected. Furthermore, the Social Committee discussed how we can involve international academics more in activities of the Utrecht Young Academy and how to make our meetings more transparent and accessible. During the assembly, Joas Wagemakers, member of the Utrecht Young Academy since 2017, also elaborated on his research which focuses on the intellectual history of modern Islam in the Middle East.  

During the next General Assembly on Friday March 19, the ten new members of the Utrecht Young Academy will be inaugurated.
