Explore and research nature at Utrecht Science Park - Bioblitz 2025
Today is International Biodiversity Day - the official kick-off for the Bioblitz 2025! Until 21 June, Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ and Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ of Applied Sciences invite you to explore and monitor nature at Utrecht Science Park. Join a nature excursion or go outside with your smartphone and help map biodiversity at USP.
From moth walks to bird excursions
The Bioblitz 2025 is a great opportunity to explore nature at Utrecht Science Park together with nature experts, often colleagues. From plants and soil creatures to birds and moths - each excursion lets you look at the Science Park in a different way.
You can take part in these excursions:
- 26 May, 12.00 hours: Botanical field trip (in Dutch & English)
- 3 June, 15.00 hours: Foraging walk (in Dutch)
- 5 June, 21.30 hours: Evening excursion: moths in the Botanic Gardens (in Dutch)
- 10 June, 15.30 hours: Afternoon excursion: soil creatures (in Dutch & English)
- 12 June, 12.00 hours: Guided tour in Amelisweerd (in Dutch)
- 20 June, 15.00 hours: Birding in Utrecht Science Park (in Dutch)
Lunch walks: discover nature, support research
Join us for lunch walks outside with PhD student Petros Constantinides. Petros monitors local flora and fauna to assess the impact of the university's biodiversity measures. Bring your smartphone and help spot and record as many plant and animal species as possible with the ObsIdentify app. It is helpful if you download the app in advance. You can do so by following these instructions.
