Expert meeting on the future of youth protection
On May 17, 2021, Raad voor Strafrechtstoepassing en Jeugdbescherming (RSJ) organized an expert meeting on the future of youth protection. The reason for the expert meeting was the 'toekomstscenario kind- en gezinsbescherming', drawn up by the government, in which the contours of a new, improved system of youth protection and youth aid are outlined. In preparation for the expert meeting, Joost Huijer, associate professor at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 and UCERF researcher, wrote a position paper answering the question of what core elements a good system of youth protection should meet. Among other things, he writes about the importance of central direction in order to guarantee the quality and availability of youth care. He also argues for a clear division of roles between the organizations involved in the youth protection chain.
