Expected completion David de Wied building date March 2021

David de Wiedgebouw impressie

As you know, we are approaching the completion of the building work in and around the David de Wied building. We expect to take delivery of the new Life Science cluster this spring. We are therefore sending this e-mail to bring you up to date regarding the completion of the project. The original plan was for the building to be complete before the end of 2020. However, new requests were made over the course of the project that extended the time needed to complete the work. As a result, we were able to accommodate more of the users’ wishes and address several problems in the building.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic some work could not be conducted at the desired pace, but fortunately we were able to continue with most of the construction work. The completion and delivery of the building has therefore been rescheduled for March 2021. Starting in late April, research groups can begin moving from the Kruyt building to the David de Wied building. The relevant groups will be notified in time to make the necessary preparations.

Exterior and new entrance

The building exterior still needs some finishing touches, especially on the north and west sides of the building. This work is scheduled to begin around 1 March, and is expected to take around three months to complete. We will be able to use the new entrance as soon as the project is complete.

Work activity update

The renovations involved a lot of hard work, and not just on the part of the builders. We have therefore produced a short video to look back on the course of the project. If you’re interested, you can .
