Event: The Hungary Presidency of the EU
The EUPlatform recently hosted a successful event on the Hungarian EU presidency on 16 September, from 4 to 6 PM. Dr. Kati Cseres, Associate Professor of Law at the Amsterdam Centre for European Law & Governance (UvA), gave an insightful presentation on Hungary鈥檚 priorities for its EU presidency and the potential risks these pose to the European Union. Key topics included the New Competitiveness Deal and defense issues, which have been at the forefront of discussions since the presidency began.
Dr. Cseres shared her expertise, drawing on her recent visit to the European Parliament in July 2024, where she addressed the New Competitiveness Deal, and connected her insights to her publication on Hungarian (Illiberal) Imaginaries of Consumers.
The event attracted around twenty students, creating a lively and engaging discussion. Following the lecture, attendees enjoyed Hungarian drinks and snacks, adding a cultural touch to the informative evening.
