EU Grant for Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 and partners for water project in Burkina Faso
Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 is part of a consortium which has been awarded an EU-grant of 1 million euros, to execute a project on water resources management in Burkina Faso. This four-year project is called Faso Koom II and is a cooperation between Dutch regional water authorities and a Water Authority in Burkina Faso: Agence de l鈥橢au de Nakanbe. The aim is to support the local authority by training (local) water committees on water resources management. It will help to improve access to sustainable and safe water resources.
Improving water quality and quantity, taking human rights into account
The research of Dr. Daphina Misiedjan, assistant professor and researcher at the Utrecht Centre for Water, Oceans and Sustainability Law and the Centre for Global Challenges, forms an important part of this project as it ensures that the project meets human rights standards. This means that during the design and implementation, human rights standards such as participation and affordability are taking into account. The overarching goal of the project is to improve integrated water resources management by strengthening the capacity of the Agence de l鈥橢au de Nakanbe. The project aims to improve the water quality and quantity for millions of people in the Volta basin.
