Double honour for Oliver Pl眉mper
Earth scientist receives Research Excellence Medal and becomes Fellow of the Young Academy of Europe
Oliver Pl眉mper from the Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 has been awarded the Research Excellence Medal of the European Mineralogical Union for his considerable achievements in mineral science and for his wider contributions to the European mineralogy community. Last week he was also elected as a Fellow of the Young Academy of Europe.

The Research Excellence Medal of the is presented to early career scientists 鈥 within 15 years after their PhD 鈥 who have made a significant contribution to research in mineralogy and whose professional and societal activities contribute to strengthening scientific links in Europe. Due to COVID-19 the medal ceremony is postponed until 2021 when hopefully the will take place.
鈥淚 am very honoured to receive this medal,鈥 Oliver Pl眉mper comments after receiving the good news. 鈥淯nderstanding how minerals interact with each other is both of fundamental and of societal importance, and I am delighted to present my research in a serious of seminars that go together with this award, albeit them likely being online.鈥

is a bottom-up initiative of a dynamic and innovative group of recognised European young scientists with outspoken views about science and science policy. Pl眉mper is looking forward to having many fruitful discussions on science, science policy and outreach.
