Healthy Planet
The theme of the Dies Natalis was Healthy Planet. Our planet is under pressure, facing complex challenges in areas such as sustainability, health and climate change. Urgent and transformative action is needed. That is why Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 collaborates with numerous partners to develop sustainable solutions that promote the health of both the planet and all living beings. Anniversary Address
The Anniversary Address was given by Ajay Bailey, professor Geographies of Health, Inclusion, and Development. His research is at the intersections of health, ageing, and inclusive cities with a focus on the challenges faced by marginalised communities in the Global South. Healthy Planet highlights the critical connection between human well-being and the health of the Earth鈥檚 ecosystems. By integrating equity and justice into environmental solutions, we can foster resilience, improve health outcomes, and ensure a fairer future for all.
Honorary doctorates
Two international top-level academics received honorary doctorates during the Dies Natalis: Harini Nagendra and Cathryn Tonne.
Teacher Awards
After the presentation of the honorary doctorates, we celebrated the winners of the Teacher Awards and presented the Alumnus of the Year Award. Dekoor Close Harmony provided a musical intermezzo.
Farewell of Henk Kummeling
This Dies Natalis also marked the farewell of Henk Kummeling as Rector Magnificus of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. Over the past years, Henk Kummeling has made a significant contribution to the development of university teaching and research, as well as to fostering connections with society. He has been a driving force behind the transition to Open Science and initiated the further development of the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 teaching model. At the end of the ceremony, Henk Kummeling handed over the office of Rector to the incoming Rector Magnificus, Wilco Hazeleger.
Henk Kummeling has indicated that instead of a personal gift, he would prefer a contribution to the Equal Opportunities Fund of the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 Fund. For more information visit .
