Develop your research ideas at IDEAS meetings

Scientists discussing at IDEAS meeting

Each month, the Centre for Complex Systems Studies organises an IDEAS meeting to develop new ideas on complexity research or solutions which may lead to joint proposals. The IDEAS meeting that was held on March 27 2018 was initiated by , Professor at the UMC Utrecht and associate member of the Centre for Complex Systems Studies. The topic Complex dynamics of infectious diseases brought together 16 scientists, from Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 and external organisations.

Challenges in viral interactions

Infectious diseases are complex systems, where an infection by one virus for example may alter the probability and timing of another infection. To gain more knowledge of how different infections may influence each other, , a colleague of Mirjam Kretzschmar, believes that interdisciplinary collaboration within the framework of complex systems studies can be of great value. She kicked off the IDEAS meeting with a general introduction to the research on viral interactions and its challenges.

Interdisciplinary collaboration possibilities

The meeting continued with an elaboration on two interdisciplinary funding possibilities from the Horizon 2020 call. After a round of discussions in small groups, a few innovative research ideas were proposed. Bruijning-Verhagen: 鈥淭he feedback and the outcome of the IDEAS meeting was very useful. Together with Mirjam Kretzschmar and the interested participants, I would like to continue developing some of these ideas.鈥
