Daniel Block appointed as Future Food鈥檚 first Visiting Professor

In 2019 Future Food Utrecht will welcome Daniel Block as Visiting Professor. Block is a professor of geography at Chicago State 木瓜福利影视 as well as an adjunct professor in the Departments of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern 木瓜福利影视 and School of Urban Planning at the 木瓜福利影视 of Illinois at Chicago.
Block鈥檚 research has been largely focused on food access issues in Afro-American communities on the South Side of Chicago and in Chicago in general. Much of this work has been done through partnerships with community organizations. It has also been particularly interdisciplinary, involving academic partners from e.g. anthropology, public health, nursing and sociology.
As part of his stay in Utrecht, the visiting professor will organize a symposium or other high-profile activity on a food related topic.
The Future Food Board hopes that Dr. Block鈥檚 visit will spark new collaborative research ideas among with Future Food community at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视.
Future Food Visiting Professor nomination
In its strive to further shape the four research themes and strengthen the food research community at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, Future Food launched its first call for nominations for Visiting Professors in 2018. The received nominations were reviewed by an independent panel of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视鈥檚 scholars, who advised the Future Food Board on the selection of the Visiting Professor.
July 2019 the new call for nominations will be launched.
