Various scientists and academic organisations are asking for a reevaluation of the new Vidi grant-rule. Academics have been put in a weaker position for negotiations as success on the job market has become more important than the substance of the grant applications. Due to funding cuts, universities are not always able to assign tenure. With the new rule, the NWO has been able to decrease the amount of grant applications by a fourth, but at the loss of researchers who are unable to find such a permanent position.
