Christian Kaiser appointed as professor of Biophysical Chemistry of Membranes and Proteins

The Bijvoet Centre is very happy to welcome Christian Kaiser as professor of Biophysical Chemistry of Membranes and Proteins!

Christian Kaiser is interested in learning how cells make and maintain functional proteins. He wants to understand鈥攁t a mechanistic level鈥攖he molecular machines that synthesize, transport, and fold proteins by studying their molecular mechanisms. His research program combines single-molecule approaches (optical tweezers and single-molecule fluorescence) with cellular assays to investigate the machinery and processes involved in protein biogenesis.

Prior to coming to the Bijvoet Centre, Christian obtained tenure as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Johns Hopkins 木瓜福利影视 in Baltimore. He carried out his doctoral work at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and Ludwig Maximilian 木瓜福利影视 in Germany, and postdoctoral work at the 木瓜福利影视 of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and at the 木瓜福利影视 of California, Berkeley.

We look forward to working with Christian and are excited about the new expertise and science he brings to our Centre and to Utrecht 木瓜福利影视.
