Chiara's Cat Café | #2 Teaming-Up

Chiara Palmeri studies English Language & Culture at UU. She is currently trying to open a cat café in the USP. Here she is blogging about her entrepreneurial journey.

Where did it end? Huh, yes. I found an amazing team, which includes my fantastic PR member Yoanie and many others.

Yoanie was the first one to reach out to me, and from the first moment we talked, I was impressed by her skills and ideas. I kept meeting up with Stijn [Editor's note: Stijn is a student coach at the UU Centre for Entrepreneurship] once every two or three weeks to share various updates from both parts in the meantime; he is making the project known to important stakeholders at the USP, which gives me an actual chance to succeed.

This is the plan so far: we are working towards getting a nice location which would have – besides cats, naturally – a coffee machine, food machine and some comfy furniture. A room would be used for a possible minibar/coffee machine and food machine with some sofas, tables and comfy seats, the other room would be used by the cats for retreating if they feel overstimulated, and possibly also use the litter or eat.

You might be wondering, how can we afford all of this? Many fundraising events are awaiting! We are planning on hosting two baking sales during the introduction days for the new firsties, to create some adorable merchandise and create a Tik Tok account to access to the creator fund.

It is time to get down to business

Exciting, right? But right now, it is time to get down to business and create some business plans and lean canvas! As I am a literature student, this is really not my best skill, but I am lucky to have two great treasurers by my side.

Stay tuned for my next adventures!

At the UU Centre for Entrepreneurship, we encourage students to try and be entrepreneurial. Being entrepreneurial is all about being creative and action-oriented, to create something new that has value for others. In this series, we give the floor to students that are part of our entrepreneurial community.
