Celebrating 50 years of climate education and research at IMAU

In 1966 a group of enthusiastic pioneers founded the Institute for Meteorology and Oceanography Utrecht (IMOU). Twenty-five years later, in 1991, its name changed to Institute for Marine and Atmospheric research Utrecht (IMAU). And this year, 2016, marks five decades of stimulating education and scientific research of the oceans, atmosphere and cryosphere at IMAU.

We celebrate IMAU鈥檚 50th anniversary on Thursday June 23rd, 2016. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the institute are all cordially invited to celebrate this milestone with us. A festive opportunity to go back to the roots of IMAU and catch up with old friends.

Those that join in the festivities can look forward to a diverse mix of events in the afternoon and evening. There will be time to listen, explore, eat and -most of all- to meet old colleagues and friends. The venue is in Utrecht and is (of course) weather-dependent. More information about the program and venue will follow soon.

First and foremost, we want to contact as many of our former students and colleagues as possible. So please forward this message to former IMAU students and colleagues that you are still in touch with. At the same time, please make sure we have your (latest) email address, and if you have photos or stories of those good old days that you want to share, please get in touch and email us at imau@science.uu.nl.

We look forward to welcoming you all on June 23rd!

The organising committee,

Hans Oerlemans, Melchior van Wessem, Sandra Tap, Floor van Lee and Rupert Holzinger
