Biology lecturer Margot Koster is nominated for national Lecturer of the Year

It is important to continuously develop your teaching to keep pace with and respond to society and research

Margot Koster, associate professor in biology, is nominated for the title of national Lecturer of the Year by the Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg (ISO). In 2018, Koster won the Outstanding Teacher Award of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ. Students described Margot as open, humorous and stimulating to find new creative solutions. According to them, she is a ‘natural born leader’.

In Utrecht, the jury chose Margot because she creates a safe learning environment, continuously innovates her education and how she develops reseach-based education as a scientific teacher. No wonder the jury of the ISO Lecturer of the Year award has also nominated Margot. This was done on the basis of a written dossier and a personal interview.

Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ scores well at the national lecturer award: in 2016, Marc van Mil (Biomedical sciences) was awarded Lecturer of the Year and in 2017, Haza Rahim (Psychology) reached the finals of the election.

Come and encourage Margot!

Besides Margot, Calvin Rans (TU Delft), Jurnan Schilder (UT) and Bart Rietjens (HAS Den Bosch) have been nominated. On April 13th, in the presence of Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven, the four final candidates will give a mini lecture on a subject of their own choice from their field of expertise.

You can come and encourage Margot to give her mini lecture on Saturday April 13th, from 13:30 in the Jaarbeurs. More information can be found , registration can be done via docentvanhetjaar@iso.nl.
