The summer courses in Applied data science offered last summer were a big success! 

The team of the focus area is very proud of this result and would like to congratulate all teachers involved. 

Last year, in 2020, all courses were cancelled, but this year 25 summer courses in data science were offered of which 24 are finished by now. Together there were more than 800 participants, with an average of more than 30 participants per course. 

There were also a few new courses: 
-    AI-Aided systematic reviewing
-    Data science: Programming in Python
-    Data science: Applied text mining
-    Data Science: Introduction to text mining with R. 

Participants could attend online as well as face-to-face. Many courses were provided jointly by more than one faculty, showing that data scientists in Utrecht form a community.

Set up your own summer course

The focus area Applied data science would like to enlarge the number of data science and AI courses even further next year. Therefore we invite you to approach us with ideas. Having a large experience in this, we like to advise you. We can, for example help you finding partners for your project. 

It is good to mention that summer courses are part of Continuing education (Teaching for professionals), which is a focal point in the recent 5 year strategy of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ. Especially for those who haven’t contributed to the summerschool before, this is an interesting way to broaden your teaching experience by educating the professional workforce.
