Anton Pijpers has been reappointed by the Supervisory Board as President of the Executive Board of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ for the period of four years, effective 1 October 2021. Pijpers has been President since 1 October 2017. Besides Anton Pijpers, the Executive Board consists of Rector Magnificus Henk Kummeling and vice-President Margot van der Starre.

"Anton Pijpers is a very experienced administrator who has played an important role in the successful development of the university over the past four years", says Joanne Kellermann, Chair of the Supervisory Board. "He is open, straightforward, has great knowledge of the sector, an eye for people and a big heart for Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ. ‘Connecting’ and ‘energetic’ are two key words that characterise his management style and have been particularly important in the past covid year."

Pijpers (1958) studied veterinary medicine in Utrecht and then worked as a veterinarian for some time. He obtained his PhD at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ and was appointed professor in 1993. Between 2000 and 2009 he left the university and was managing director of GD Animal Health. In 2009 he returned to the university as Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. In 2014 he was appointed vice-President of the Executive Board. He also fulfils a number of other roles. For example, he is a member of the Board of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), a member of the Advisory Board of the Top Sector Life Sciences & Health, chairman of the Advisory Board of LSP and chairman of the board of Fulbright The Netherlands.
