Annemarie van Wezel new Dean of Geosciences

Annemarie van Wezel

From 15 August 2025, professor Annemarie van Wezel has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Geosciences by Utrecht 木瓜福利影视鈥檚 Executive Board. Van Wezel will also be appointed professor. She is currently professor of Environmental Ecology at the 木瓜福利影视 of Amsterdam.

President of the Executive Board Anton Pijpers is very pleased with 鈥檚 new appointment at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. 鈥淎nnemarie brings a combination of administrative experience and impressive insight into the broad field of Geosciences. Her vision of collegial governance, and her focus on culture and the development of young researchers fit perfectly with what our university stands for. With her appointment, we not only gain a wealth of knowledge and experience, but also the perspective of someone who knows our university inside out and who has gained experience at other organisations. As the Executive Board, we are looking forward to working together.鈥

鈥淚 am greatly looking forward to starting at this faculty with its unique and leading position, which I am keen to strengthen further. I like the fact that Geosciences is broad in its disciplines and at the same time works in a well-defined field, which makes it easy to truly move forward together. In addition, the ecosystem of Utrecht Science Park, with excellent research infrastructure and applied knowledge institutes literally around the corner, is very attractive in its position to be meaningful to society through developed knowledge.鈥
