Anne-Rigt Poortman appointed professor
Retroactively from 1 March 2020, Anne-Rigt Poortman has been appointed professor of Family Diversity and Life Course Outcomes. The sociologist will use this Utrecht chair to explore family diversity following a divorce and investigate how different family types affect the development of the child, among other things.
Children may experience a range of family types when growing up. They may well live in two homes following divorce. The family type will change once more when a parent finds a new partner. Poortman wants to gain insight through her chair into this family diversity as well as into the impact of these various family types on the well-being of the children and their parents. For this purpose, Poortman will cooperate with national and international academics from a range of disciplines, with Statistics Netherlands (CBS) as well as with professionals and policymakers involved in the divorced families.
