Advice to bring your own drinks to Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 remains in force until Thursday 6 November

Water company Vitens announced on Tuesday afternoon, 4 November, that tap water in the Utrecht region is safe to drink again. In Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 buildings, all water pipes are currently being flushed. The aim is to complete this work before Thursday so that tap water can be safely consumed again throughout all UU buildings from 6 November onwards. All coffee machines and water coolers are being manually cleaned by the supplier and will also be available for use again from Thursday 6 November.

On the night of Friday 31 October, drinking water company Vitens discovered bacteria in a water storage facility. As a result, residents in the Utrecht region were advised not to drink tap water and to boil water for at least three minutes before use. This also affected Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 buildings.

Flushing

Now that the boil-water advisory has been lifted for the Utrecht region, UU will flush all water pipes and machines. This is in line with the advice from Vitens to let taps run for one minute if they have not been used. The flushing will take place on Wednesday 5 November. We are aware that in some places, taps have been used in recent days. However, this will not be the case everywhere. Therefore, it has been decided to flush all taps.

This process takes time because UU is a large organisation. The advice not to drink tap water in UU buildings, and not to use coffee or tea machines, therefore remains in force until Thursday 6 November. Should these measures remain in place longer for specific buildings due to extended work, students and staff in those buildings will be informed.

The supplier of the coffee machines and water coolers will place a post-it note on each machine that has been cleaned and is safe to use again. Please do not switch on the coffee machines yourself.

What does this mean for UU on Wednesday 5 November?

  • Do not drink water from the tap.
  • Bring enough water with you if you are coming to work or study at the university. It is not possible to boil water on campus.
  • Coffee machines in all buildings are switched off, unless stated otherwise on the machine. We also ask you not to use electric kettles. Please bring your own coffee and tea from home.
  • It is possible to wash your hands.
