Aan de Stegge Twello realizes energy-neutral parking garage Olympos

At Utrecht Science Park, Aan de Stegge Twello will start building an energy-neutral parking facility in 2021. The contract for the parking facility named Olympos was awarded to Aan de Stegge Twello after a European tendering procedure based on the best price-quality ratio.

User-friendly and sustainable

With the new four-storey parking facility, Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 is expanding its parking capacity from 118 to 320 parking spaces. Circularity, an appropriate design, user comfort and friendliness were central to the plan development. The parking garage was designed on the basis of one-way traffic for cars, walking zones for pedestrians and spacious transparent stairwells. Slim columns and a ramp construction on the outside provide a spatial experience. The facade will be provided with low-maintenance wooden slats in combination with a plinth of gabions with green planting.

"We feel involved and want to take our social responsibility. The university does this through education and research, but also through the choices we make in our business operations and in the design of the campus. We go for a car-free Science Park, but we know that not everyone can come by bike or public transport. That's why we're opting for this flexible and sustainable parking facility".

Materials passport

Parking garage Olympos has been developed in an energy-neutral way by, among other things, the use of LED lighting, an energy-efficient passenger elevator and solar panels. The applied building materials are registered by means of a Madaster materials passport. This registration certificate of all applied building materials gives a long-term view on the raw materials and materials used, so that they can be offered on the market and reused when demolished. This makes the parking lot largely circular and meets various criteria for achieving BREEAM and ESPA Gold certification.

Total concept including maintenance

The design of the parking garage was developed by Aan de Stegge Twello in collaboration with its construction partners. The parking garage will be realized with the Flexideck parking system of subsidiary Continental Car Parks. This modular, demountable parking solution ensures that in the future it will be possible to respond flexibly to parking needs. Part of the agreement is also the maintenance of the parking garage for a period of 10 years.

"Parking garage Olympos is a fine example of the parking garages that we are developing and realizing in the year 2020: energy-neutral, as circular as possible, detachable and low-maintenance. Future-proofing is what we focus on in the development of our parking garages. This has advantages for both our clients and the environment".
