Our current MSc in Sustainable Development student, Younjung Choi from South Korea, shares her experiences of studying in Utrecht. Read on to see she thinks of the city, study culture and Dutch way of life!

About Sustainable Development

I chose to do my master’s degree at Utrecht ľ�ϸ���Ӱ�� because of its unique program. My master Sustainable Development approaches the subject from different perspectives, utilizing multiple disciplines. I’m taught both socio-economical and engineering courses, which helps me to come to a broader understanding about my field. If you want people to adopt sustainable practices, it’s important to look further than the engineering side of things.

We also frequently work together with students from other tracks from Sustainable Development. While hard in the beginning, we soon learned how to draw from each other’s strengths. During this semester, we work with real clients such as consultancy firms or the municipality of Utrecht. I have the opportunity to use what I learn in real-life practice, which is really cool.

Utrecht ľ�ϸ���Ӱ�� has a very strong identity, which it leverages into real world impact. For example, the university cares a lot about climate change and pollution and communicates this very clearly. At every level of the organisation, I sense the university tries to make a change for the better and it feels good to be part of such a positive movement. I feel we are making a difference in society.

What’s also nice, is that Utrecht ľ�ϸ���Ӱ�� offers a lot of different programs. Whatever you’re interested in, there’s a program that fits your interests.

About Utrecht

I love living in Utrecht. The city feels very welcoming and it has a great vibe. Since everything is close by, it’s easy to find your way around the city. You can cycle everywhere! Because of Utrecht ľ�ϸ���Ӱ��, there’s a lot young people living in the here. This means that there’s always something interesting going on. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. For example there’s a lot of bars with live music and every weekend there’s nice concerts around the city. I feel completely at home here!
