Workshop Series: Co-creating the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 Living Lab for Sustainable Farming
Shared Vision & Values

We are pleased to invite you to the first workshop of our Living Lab for Sustainable Farming, entitled 鈥淪hared Vision & Values.鈥
This session marks the start of a series of five co-creation workshops that will bring together scientists, farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to jointly design the Living Lab Farm, a place where we can test and promote multifunctional farming systems that balance production, biodiversity, and sustainability in practice.
About the Living Lab
Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 is developing the Living Lab around its two farms 鈥 De Tolakker and De Boeije 鈥 as complementary testbeds for the transition toward multifunctional farming systems.
- De Tolakker, an operational dairy farm managed by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, provides the opportunity to explore incremental changes within a running, commercially viable farm.
- De Boeije will serve as a site to experiment with more radical innovations, testing new approaches in land use, production systems, and farm鈥揷ommunity relations.
Together, these two farms will form a unique platform for co-creation, where scientists and farmers can jointly test, adapt, and evaluate practical solutions that balance production, biodiversity, climate adaptation, and social value.
Farmers play a central role in this Living Lab 鈥 bringing practical knowledge, identifying feasible pathways for change, and ensuring that solutions are grounded in real-world farming challenges. Participation in the workshops offers opportunities to:
- Help shape the direction of the Living Lab and future research agenda;
- Access scientific insights and on-farm experimentation;
- Build new collaborations and visibility for sustainable farming innovation.
Workshop 1 鈥 Shared Vision & Values
Date: Thursday, 20 November 2025
Time: 9:15鈥12:00 (walk-in and coffee from 9:00; lunch until 13:00)
Location: 木瓜福利影视 Library Utrecht Science Park 鈥 6th floor, Bucheliuszaal 6.18
Coffee will be provided, and we invite you to join us for lunch and informal discussion after the workshop.
About the Workshop
This first workshop will focus on developing a shared vision and set of guiding values for the Living Lab. Through interactive discussion, we will:
- Identify what we collectively aim to achieve with the Living Lab;
- Reflect on the values that should guide our collaboration and experimentation;
- Build a common foundation that connects scientific insight, farming practice, and policy needs.
Your perspective and contribution are essential to ensure that the Living Lab becomes a meaningful platform for innovation, learning, and collaboration across sectors.
We look forward to starting this exciting journey together and shaping a shared vision for the Living Lab.
