Transparent Communication (Online) PhD-psychologist
Trainer: Drs. P. C.M. Meesters (Paula), PhD-psychologist
Aim of the course Transparent Communication and Interaction
The aim of this workshop is to make you aware of and enhance your personal qualities (i.e. your ‘strengths and weaknesses’) in communication and interaction. By increasing your skills in purposeful self-reflection, communication and interaction you will learn to: 1) cope better with feedback, criticism, conflict and (in)dependency; 2) understand your own influence on communication; 3) listen carefully. These coping skills are an important part of the ability to take the lead in your own research process and team.
Teaching method
The course provides an equal balance between experience (opportunity to reflect on your personal development), observation and reflection (self-tests, discussion), theoretical background (Communication models like Leary’s Rose, core quality quadrant of Ofman and Cognitive Behavioural approach) and skills training (listening skills and transparent communication). It is required that you are willing to share some personal insights, values and cases.

Our cancellation/no-show policy
We are happy to offer workshops for free to all GSLS PhDs. However: free of charge does not mean free of responsibility. Our activities tend to be fully booked well in advance. For every late cancellation or no-show we have had to disappoint others who would have liked to attend.
This is how we work:
- Once you have signed up for a workshop, we expect you to attend;
- If you need to cancel your registration, do so at the earliest possible moment, at least four weeks before the start of the course;
- You have to attend the full course session.
- Not meeting the attendance requirements or cancelling within four weeks before the course starts means you will be charged a no-show fee;
- We are unable to make any exceptions.
