Social Media Safety: Threats from Across the Ocean
Recent geopolitical developments have revealed the volatility of platform governance politics. With Musk and Zuckerberg backtracking a lot of the processes and features that make social media a safe and legally compliant space, there are increasing concerns about how US-based platforms will push back against the application of the EU’s most recent platform liability reform - the Digital Services Act (DSA). Catalina Goanta will discuss what safeguards exist at EU and national level to ensure the effectiveness of the DSA in these times of turmoil in EU-US relations.
After her talk, Catalina Goanta will answer questions form the audience. Afterwards, we'll have time to mingle over drinks and snacks.
