SIG Educational Games & Play: game demonstration

to

On 5 June, between 13:15-15:00 o'clock, a new meeting of the Special Interest Group (SIG) Educational Games & Play will take place. During this meeitng, Thomas Hartman will show us his game!

Thomas started, together with Bert Weckhuysen, in the end of 2022 the project Immersive Chemistry Education (ICE) in which they had the desire to create a gaming platform where Chemistry students could study and practice interactively. After receiving a fUSO funding at the start of 2023, they finished the first module (about Catalysis) with the help of Raccoon Serious Games in october 2024.

The game puts you in the shoes of a chemistry expert, on a spaceship. While on a long trip towards a new planet, your water tank becomes severely damaged and you will have to discover, research and apply your knowledge in catalysis to convert your exhaled CO2 back to H2O! Will you be able to save the entire crew of the spaceship?

In this SIG meeting, Thomas will demonstrate the game and share the lessons learnt during the designing of the game. You are welcome to bring a laptop with you if you would like to try it out yourself!
