In recent years, several high-profile climate cases have been brought against companies in the Netherlands. Notably, the case against Shell and the case against KLM – focused on greenwashing – have drawn considerable attention. More cases have been announced, including a second case against Shell and a case against ING. These developments provide a reason to take a closer look at the evolution of corporate climate change litigation in the Netherlands, particularly with a view to understanding what the future of this phenomenon might look like. The seminar is organized by the Utrecht Centre for Accountability and Liability Law (UCALL) and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.

The seminar is part of the project of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law: . We will discuss the future of corporate climate change litigation from several perspectives, including empirics, comparative law, financial law, consumer law, tort law, criminal law and human rights law.
