Climate change raises questions - but where can you find reliable answers? The links questions from Dutch citizens about climate to relevant experts. What is ecocide? How can the music industry become more sustainable? What is the climate impact of space travel?

In recent years, with more than 400 experts from various disciplines- from physics, to biology, psychology, geography and law, and many enthusiastic editors, we have already answered over 200 questions. We aim to share scientific information on climate related topics with the general public in an understandable way. But how can we communicate scientific information?

Join us on September 30th in S4S Caf茅 x KlimaatHelpdesk for an afternoon with the KlimaatHelpdesk and speakers exploring the topic of climate communication and how to share scientific insights to the broader public. The S4S Caf茅 is part of the .

The three invited speakers: 

  • is Assistant Professor in science communication and science-society relations at the Athena Institute of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is project leader of the NWA-funded research project "Schurende Theaterdialogen" (Theater Dialogues of Dissent). In his research and teaching, he seeks to examine science communication, technology, and climate, nature, and the environment in light of philosophical concepts and perspectives.
  • is PhD candidate at Erasmus 木瓜福利影视 Rotterdam. Her research focuses on planetary health communication for societal impact, particularly the links between climate change and human health.
  • Aafke de Vos, (National Citizens' Assembly on Climate). Imagine putting 175 randomly selected citizens in one room to make recommendations for national climate policy 鈥 what happens then? The Netherlands鈥 first national Climate Citizens鈥 Assembly brings together 175 people aged 16 and older, reflecting society in terms of age, gender, education, place of residence, and views on climate policy. The participants focus on sustainable consumption, the circular economy and travel. Aafke will reflect on the role of scientific knowledge in the Assembly and share key lessons they have learned.

Science for Sustainability (S4S) forms an inclusive and inspiring platform for interaction between researchers, lecturers, and students interested in solutions for sustainability issues. As part of Pathways to Sustainability, S4S hosts regular 'S4S Caf茅s', where we delve into diverse sustainability-related topics from various angles. By bringing together scholars from different disciplines who share an interest in the topic, the Caf茅 fosters valuable connections and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Rethink Hydrogen project invites you to explore the technical, economic, and socio-ethical dimensions of hydrogen in an interactive dialogue.
