Playful Engagement during Science Weekend: Exploring Healthy and Sustainable Food
Join and experience
Note: This event is in Dutch.
Join us as part of the Weekend of Science 2025 at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ! On Sunday 5 October 2025, the university opens its doors at the Utrecht Science Park for visitors of all ages to explore, experiment, and discover.
As part of this exciting event, Harrison Awuh and Rashmi Sasidharan from Future Food Utrecht invite children to join two fun and interactive activities:
1. Interactive Plant Game
Children match edible plants to the foods, plant parts, regions of origin, related species, and medicinal uses, discovering the surprising connections between plants and the foods we eat.
2. Participatory Art Project
Kids explore extreme climate scenarios and use drawing or painting to imagine creative food strategies for adaptation. Along the way, they learn which crops thrive in different climates, such as rice in flooded areas or quinoa in dry regions.
Children can drop in at any time during the event and participate at their own pace. There are two time slots to choose from: 10:00 – 12:30 or 13:30 – 16:00. For a break, enjoy lunch in the Botanical Gardens, which are open for free during the event.
These activities are just a small part of a wide range of exciting events and workshops for all ages. Discover more and plan your visit here
